Elpida

Also known as: MV Elpida · Elpida Wreck · Elpida Shipwreck

Built in Germany in 1965 and later a cargo vessel in Greece, the Elpida was sunk on purpose on 7 December 2019 close to the small LEF1. Her size is enough for two dives, and the container area, all decks, the bridge and the engine room are open to divers, which makes her a good introduction to wreck diving. Clay amphorae placed in the protected area add extra shelter, and the wreck already hosts amberjack, groupers, parrotfish, cardinalfish, squirrelfish, cornetfish, pufferfish and pearl and thorny oysters, with dolphins sighted at times. She lies about 2 km offshore, a short boat ride from the Oroklini dive centres.
