Alexandria

Also known as: Alexandra Wreck · Alexandria Wreck · Alexandria Shipwreck · The Alex

This former fishing trawler went down in 2006 and settled perfectly upright on the sand only a few hundred metres from the Zenobia. Being built of wood makes it unusual among Cypriot wrecks, and its upper accommodation and small swim-throughs allow light penetration. The hull is overgrown and attracts schools of barracuda, jacks, kingfish and tuna, as well as big groupers, triggerfish, parrotfish and colourful nudibranchs, and turtles and even dolphins have been reported. Because of its depth it suits Advanced Open Water divers, and Visit Cyprus advises nitrox; it is also used for technical diving.
