Hirondelle Wreck
Also known as: L'épave de l'Hirondelle · L'Hirondelle · Hirondelle
Built by Escher Wyss and launched at Ouchy in 1856, the Hirondelle was the first Lake Geneva boat built entirely in Switzerland. In June 1862, avoiding a barge, she ran onto rocks near the shore and sank after more than 150 passengers had been landed safely with the help of local fishermen. Attempts to raise her failed, and the wooden hull now rests on the slope between about 40 and 60 m, with a hand-carved bow mentioned by the Evian club. Divers reach her from the shore by finning out to the first red marker and following the furrow the ship cut as she slid down. Its depth makes it a committed dive, and Plongee.ch lists it for advanced to trimix divers.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
