Konstanz Seerhein
The Seerhein is the roughly 4 km stretch of Rhine joining the main lake to the Untersee, and because the Untersee sits slightly lower, water flows through it all the time. Divers usually enter by the stone steps at the old Rhine bridge and let the current carry them about 1.5 km downstream to an exit below the Schänzle bridge, also known as the new Rhine bridge. Entry and exit are apart, so two cars or a driver are needed. Both the deeper river bed and the shallower banks can be dived, and wide seagrass beds near the banks hold perch, pike, eels and, with luck, wels catfish. Depending on flow and water level the drift takes about 45 to 60 minutes, and because the site is only open in winter many dives start around dusk or after dark.
