Joelle's Reef

Also known as: Joelle's · Joel's

Joelle's Reef is one of the bay's three classic seamounts and is slightly shallower than Bradford Shoals. From a top at about 16 m the reef slopes gently to 25 to 30 m before a vertical drop, reaching about 40 m on the southern side. Schools of barracuda, bigeye trevally, red pinjalo and dogtooth tuna are common, with grey reef or whitetip sharks and sometimes hawksbill turtles. The reef top is dotted with anemones holding pink, Clark's and spine-cheek anemonefish, and divers report lively cleaning stations. A small current tends to bring the best fish action.
