Akinohama

Local shops call Akinohama the signature beach point of Oshima, and some divers come to the island only to dive here. The site combines boulder fields, sandy patches, slopes, walls and a deep zone, so shops run several different routes over it. Depths range from about 4 m in the shallows to around 40 m on guided deep dives. Macro life such as nudibranchs, frogfish and symbiotic gobies makes it popular with photographers, while pelagic thresher sharks and schools of migratory fish appear from time to time. Divezone Tokyo also recommends it for night dives.
