Nodahama
The site is compact and shallow, with lava formations spreading over a sandy bottom in a pattern typical of Oshima. Its centrepiece is a lava tunnel or arch that local shops recommend swimming through at least once, and in summer schools of grunt gather inside it. Because of its gentle slope it is used for Open Water training, and beginners can dive it comfortably. When the offshore current pushes into the bay it can become hard to reach the main arch, and a rip current can form in the channel past the end of the guide rope. Divezone Tokyo lists rays, crabs, lobster and anemonefish here.
