Gruta do Acaiá

Divers swim through an underwater opening in the rocky shore into a chamber with an air space and a stone beach, where they can surface. Daylight entering through the submerged entrance tints the water a luminous green and blue, which is the reason for the visit. Schools of angelfish and porkfish live in the cave, and the rocky point outside has small holes with varied marine life. Passing through the entrance needs good buoyancy, and sources reserve the crossing for advanced or experienced divers. Non-divers can also reach the chamber over land through a narrow passage on private ground, for an entrance fee.
