La Montosa
Also known as: La Montosa Island · Isla Montosa
Because the island lies so close to the Tangolunda hotels, operators like it as a short trip. Coral is richest on the side facing Balcones de Tangolunda, while the far side has swim-throughs and holes that experienced divers ride through with the surge. Eagle rays are the main attraction: one dive master once counted about seventy at the same time, and nurse and whitetip sharks have been seen here as well. Green morays, lobsters and turtles are also reported. After dark the anemones and the yellow tube corals on the rock walls open their tentacles, which makes the island a recommended night dive. With the wrong wind, water from Conejos Bay and the Copalita river mouth clouds the visibility.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
