Carawa Shipwreck

Also known as: Carawa Wreck · Carawa SS Wreck · Caragua · Caraghua · Karahua

The wreck lies a few minutes by boat from the port of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on San Cristobal and is often paired with a dive at Tijeretas. The ship is about 100 m long, broken open but with boilers and parts of the structure still recognisable, and coal from its fuel supply lies on the sandy bottom. It has become an artificial reef with nudibranchs, seahorses, octopus, moray eels, stingrays, turtles and sea lions. Surge can be felt, so operators do not advise it as a first open water dive.
