Bartolome
Bartolome is a young volcanic island east of Santiago, known above water for Pinnacle Rock. Most of the dive is spent on a sheltered sandy and rocky platform with many fish and echinoderms, and the cliffs at its edge give a chance of pelagic species. Whitetip reef sharks, stingrays, turtles and sea lions are common, and mantas and squadrons of mobulas appear at times. Boats often look for Galapagos penguins near the pinnacle between dives. Dive centres describe it as an easy site that suits newer divers.
