Le Glenn Martin

Also known as: Glenn Martin 167F Maryland

This American-built bomber of 1939 went down in September 1946 when, according to Toulon Plongée, a glassy sea and the sun misled the pilot. Cousteau and his team were the first to film and photograph the aircraft for the inquiry, and the story appears in 'The Silent World'. The plane has been moved several times; the wings now lie parallel and the landing gear is visible, while one engine is missing. A large spiny lobster, a big moray eel, conger eels, lobsters and forkbeards live in it.
