BYMS 22
Also known as: BYMS 22 wreck
The BYMS 22 was a minesweeper of the same class as the Calypso and sank on a mine in August 1944 during the landings in Provence. About fifty metres long, it rests keel up on a muddy bottom at around 41 m, some 500 m north-west of the Lion de Mer. Its wooden planking has largely gone, leaving the metal structure and easy access to the engine rooms. Silt from the Argens keeps visibility low, so the dive is meant for experienced divers who keep their fins off the bottom. Conger eels move between the plates and old shells.
