Hon Tai

Also known as: Tai Island · Lucky Island

Hon Tai, known locally as Tai or Lucky Island, lies off the southeast of Con Son and covers about 34 hectares. Con Dao Dive Center counts it among the three islands it visits most and calls it the team's favourite. Because few tourist and fishing boats come here, the reef holds noticeably more fish than the surrounding sites, with batfish, giant pufferfish, schools of barracuda, snappers and parrotfish. The deeper parts between 10 and 15 metres are rich in nudibranch species. Conditions can change fast: visibility sometimes drops to four or five metres and occasional strong currents turn the dive into a relaxed drift when conditions allow.
