Hon Bay Canh

Also known as: Bay Canh Island · Bay Canh

Hon Bay Canh, often just Bay Canh Island, lies in the east of the archipelago and is the most important sea turtle nesting site of Con Dao, with nesting all year and a peak from late May to October. The southern nesting beaches are protected by the marine park and boats may not go there, so diving takes place on the northern side at the Horseshoe site. Shallow parts suit snorkellers while deeper sections reach 18 to 25 metres. Two reef structures, one of branching coral and one of table coral, shelter a wide range of reef fish. Rainbow Divers calls the island legendary for its coral density and turtle sightings.
