Sutil Pass
Sutil Pass is a pinch point that fish and marine mammals use as a short cut around the island. The channel has scattered reefs with blacksmith, rockfish and kelp bass, and sand patches where halibut lie. In summer and late summer bat rays gather here, sometimes in large numbers, apparently to mate. A small kelp forest close to the main island makes a good backdrop for photographing the frisky young sea lions. Wash rocks near the island are known for big lobsters.
