Gruta do Coelho
A sea cave of about 120 m at Ponta do Bufador on Ilha de Cabo Frio, discovered in 2005. It is only for divers trained in cave diving.
Gruta do Coelho was found in 2005 by instructor Antônio Sérgio and named in honour of his father. The first 50 m are wide, with a canyon of dark, smooth rock about 15 m high overhead, after which the passage narrows until only one diver fits at a time. Explorers reached the end at about 120 m of penetration without finding a connection to the surface. Surge stays noticeable inside even in calm seas, so only cave-trained divers should enter.
