Diving around the Marquesas takes place in deep, plankton-rich waters surrounding a chain of volcanic islands roughly 1,500 km northeast of Tahiti. Divers regularly encounter scalloped hammerhead sharks, manta rays, stingrays and dolphins, with some sites featuring underwater caves. Dive operators serving the region are based on Hiva Oa and Nuku Hiva.
