The Gap

Also known as: Kitu Cut

The Gap is the channel between Nuapapu and Kitu, a few hundred metres north of Mariner's Cave. Dive Tonga runs it as an adventurous drift dive, usually starting at the northern end of Nuapapu and riding the current through the gap, with the direction chosen by the current of the day. Along the Nuapapu shore thickets of waving leather corals give way to bare limestone and rugged boulders, with several swim-throughs. Pelagic fish and schooling reef fish are often seen in the gap itself. The bottom ranges from about 5 m to about 27 m in the gap.
