Mariner's Cave
Mariner's Cave has no visible opening above the water: a shallow entrance about 3 m down leads into an enclosed air chamber, and divers can also use a lower entrance in the mid-teens of metres. Inside, the swell compresses the trapped air so that a fog forms and clears with every surge, lit only by blue light from the entrance. The cave faces west, so the light is best in the afternoon. Outside, a wall leads to a sand patch with two swim-throughs. The cave is named after William Mariner, who wrote down the local tale of a young chief who hid the woman he loved in this cave.
