Punta delle Cannelle

Also known as: Cannelle esterne

The main dive starts near the point and circles the mound clockwise from its deepest part, where a detached pinnacle is covered with large red gorgonians. Schools of bream and salema fill the channel between mound and shore. On the wall a diagonal crack at about 28 to 30 m and a leaning granite slab forming a tunnel to 40 m are notable features, and a Second World War mine with its cart lies on the sand at about 45 m. The outer wall, Cannelle esterne, is vertical and full of small caves with forkbeards, congers, lobsters and groupers. Consorzio Elbano Diving rates the outer dive as demanding because of depth and navigation.
