Punta della Civitata
Also known as: Cape Civitata
Boats moor south of the point and divers cross a Posidonia slope to reach the edge at about 20 m, where the cliff falls to around 45 m. A large gully running from bottom to top is coloured by sponges and lace bryozoans and holds morays, congers, groupers and forkbeards. A cave populated by cardinalfish lies along the route. Close to the point, and off the Scoglio della Civitata, a second terraced wall to about 40 m is covered in sea daisies. Pelagic fish are almost always present.
