Punta del Capel Rosso
Also known as: Capel Rosso · Punta Capel Rosso
Boats anchor in a small inlet under the Capel Rosso lighthouse on a bottom of about 15 to 20 m. Big granite blocks form a boulder slope full of resident fish. From around 20 m the first red gorgonian fans appear and grow larger and denser with depth, until from 30 m the ridges look completely red in torchlight. The east side is the more spectacular of the two flanks, which cannot both be seen in one dive. Bonito and amberjacks often pass, especially in early summer and autumn, and the granite keeps sediment low and visibility high.
