La Focacciola
Also known as: Secca della Focacciola · Punta della Focacciola
Moored in the channel between the rock and the Gemini islets, divers circle the reef past a colourful wall of sea daisies, rocky tongues and a long oblique canyon. A short cave near the base, at about 10 m, can be entered and two tunnels lead out near the top. Octopus, morays, congers and groupers live in the crevices, and mullet graze on the algae. The monument to Jacques Mayol, the first free diver to reach 100 m, was placed in 2002 at about 15 to 18 m. Consorzio Elbano Diving rates it suitable for all divers.
