Isola Corbella
Also known as: Isolotto Corbella · Corbella rock
The east-facing wall drops from a rocky plateau at 8 to 10 m into deep water, with sea fans growing larger as divers go down. Cracks hold small branches of red coral, sleeping catsharks, lobsters, large morays and congers, and colonies of anthias. On the way back a rock group at about 20 m holds the bear statue, whose plaque gives the distance from Elba to Berlin as 1,435 km. A small grotto lined with sea daisies follows at about 18 m. The north side is richer in fish such as dentex and amberjacks but is considered more challenging.
