The Step
The Step begins in open water in front of Tiputa Pass and follows the underwater topography of the step, the canyons and Motu Nuhi Nuhi before ending inside the lagoon. It is meant for the most experienced divers, with excellent buoyancy and drift-diving skills. In the great hammerhead season from January to March it is dived deep at the mouth of the pass, where large schools of stingrays often gather as a defence against the hunting hammerheads. Encounters tend to be sudden, so patience and attention to the guide pay off.
