Tabaiba Wreck
Conosciuto anche come: El Peñón · Tabaiba · El Raton
The tug served the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife for decades before it was cleaned and sunk on purpose in July 2006. It rests on its starboard side on a sloping sandy bank, with the bow higher and the stern and propeller deepest. Trained wreck divers can enter the bridge, cabins and engine room, which were prepared for safe penetration. Barracuda, amberjack and dense schools of bream circle the hull, while octopus, cuttlefish, moray eels and the occasional seahorse live around the structure and the pipeline that leads out from the entry. The entry is from a concrete staircase a short swim from the wreck, so no boat is needed.
