The Castle

Also known as: Castle Cave

The dive follows a wall with a long, low undercut full of fish before reaching the entrance of a tunnel of around 30 metres, where light is just visible at the far end. Inside it is dark, and a torch reveals big rock lobster, abalone and schools of bullseyes. The tunnel opens onto a sloping rock covered in anemones and sea whips with basket stars, under an overhang encrusted with zoanthids. Boarfish, butterfly perch and large banded morwong gather around the boulders. Several dives are needed to see the whole area, and the ascent leads up to Mount Everest.
