The Canyon
The dive crosses part of the Hairy Wall and enters an east-west valley whose vertical sides are covered in sea whips, sponges, ascidians, hydroids and sea fans, with some sponges as tall as a diver. Towards the Rose Garden and Paradise Reef, boulders form cracks and swim-throughs, and a ledge below the wall holds large rock lobster. A garden gnome wearing a dive mask sits on the sand inside the canyon. Divers usually finish by climbing slowly onto Mount Everest for the safety stop.
