Rocky Cape Outer Reef
The pinnacle has two peaks with a gully between them and shelves away in steps to about 25 metres. On the Rocky Cape side the reef drops suddenly onto a flat bottom covered in sea fans, gorgonians and large sponges, and yellow and white sea pens grow on the sand. Barrel sponges, clams, nudibranchs and many leatherjackets, wrasse and sea pike are seen. The tide drives the current here, so the dive is planned for slack water and the pinnacle is best approached with local knowledge and a sounder.
