AJ-2 Savage

Also known as: North American AJ-2 Savage · AJ-2 Savage Bomber · Savage A2 AJ2 Bomber Wreck

The Savage was a post-war carrier bomber with two propeller engines plus a jet engine in the rear fuselage. Scubaholics identifies this aircraft as an AJ-2P photo-reconnaissance version that went down in January 1957; its three crew members all survived. The plane rests upright outside the bay and is mostly intact, apart from damage to the rear fuselage and a missing propeller. Marine life gathers around the wreck, and the dive is done in blue water. Only divers with full trimix training can visit it.
