Shaab Maksur

The reef rises from deep water as a long, isolated platform with drop-offs on all sides and a plateau at each end that slopes to about 40 m. Its name means cut, because the southern part looks split down the middle, and a crack there can be dived by deep-certified divers from about 30 to 40 m. Dives are usually planned as a quick descent to reach the plateau before the current pushes divers into the blue, followed by a drift along the east wall, which is covered in soft corals. Grey reef and whitetip reef sharks can be met, and with luck oceanic whitetips and hammerheads pass by. On calm days without current the dive is much easier, but the site is not used for snorkelling or night dives.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
