Scotch Banks

Also known as: Scotch Bank

Scotch Banks lies just east of Christiansted harbour and is one of the Long Reef sites. The mooring is on the sandy top in about 25 feet, and the wall begins some 15 yards to the east at about 40 feet. Pillar coral with barred soldierfish and grunts covers the top of the wall, while barracuda, angelfish, horse-eye jacks and elephant ear sponges are found along the face. Eagle rays, manta rays and even whale sharks have been seen here on occasion. Blue Salt Divers describes it as a natural extension of the neighbouring Stingraysted reef.
