Hydravion et Goélette

Also known as: The Hydro Plane & The Goelette · Catalina wreck

This dive off Faa'a combines two wrecks. The Catalina PBY-5A flew for the forerunner of Air Tahiti in the 1950s, was damaged on landing in Raiatea and was sunk on purpose in November 1962. A few metres away lies a schooner, called the Orohena by Eleuthera. Both rest on sand and draw many fish. Eleuthera counts it among the very few wreck dives in Polynesia.
