Elephant Head Rock
Also known as: Hin Pusa · Hin Pusar · Elephant Rock
Dozens of giant granite boulders are stacked into a large pinnacle that rises from a sandy seabed at around 40 metres to above the surface. Between them the current has cut channels, gorges, caverns and swim-throughs, so the topography is the main attraction here. Giant trevally patrol the shallows, while whitetip and blacktip reef sharks, nurse sharks and leopard sharks are seen deeper down. Ribbon eels, mantis shrimps, Kuhl's stingrays and the Andaman jawfish reward divers who look closely. Currents can be strong and turn into surges, so the site suits experienced divers who follow their guide closely.
