Christmas Point
Stacked granite boulders run from the island down to about 35 to 40 metres and form several archways, the best known a swim-through at around 24 to 25 metres. Soft corals and sea fans grow in the gaps, and the sand between the boulders hides nudibranchs and ribbon eels. Around the rocks divers meet leopard sharks, whitetip reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse, barracuda, giant trevally and tuna, while sweetlips and groupers shelter in the swim-throughs. Because the site faces open sea to the west and the current can be strong on some days of the month, several operators take only experienced divers here.
