West Ridge

Sipadan's west side is its deepest flank, and the wall here drops far beyond diving depth. Black corals grow in dense stands in the lower part of the ridge, and groupers hold the ledges while turtles pass by. Scuba Junkie dives it as a drift with the current towards South Point, best in the afternoon when the sun lights the wall. On days of very clear water, divers who swim off the wall may see grey reef sharks and hammerheads circling deep plateaus.
