SMS König
Also known as: König
SMS König led the German fleet at the Battle of Jutland and was scuttled at Scapa Flow in 1919. Today she lies completely inverted with her bow pointing roughly north, and post-war salvage teams blasted her hull far more crudely than on the Markgraf or Kronprinz Wilhelm. That damage is what makes the dive distinctive: divers can look into the base of a barbette where a main gun turret once turned and peer into an exposed boiler room. Wreckage thrown out by the blasting lies in a jumble along the seabed beside the hull. Dive guides recommend her to divers who already know the other battleships, because orientation takes some work.
