SMS Dresden
Also known as: Dresden II
SMS Dresden settled on an underwater mound, so the wreck slopes from the north-pointing bow down towards the stern. She is the only one of the German High Seas Fleet wrecks in Scapa Flow that fell onto her port side, which makes her a different dive from her sister ship Cöln. Divers see the crown-shaped mooring fairlead at the bow, the ship's crest on the hull, anchor chains hanging down to the silt and the remains of the forward gun mounts. The hull near the bow carries a garden of plumose anemones. Charter skippers usually keep two buoys on her, one near the bow and one behind the break in the hull.
