Pearl Farm Jetty

Also known as: The Jetty

The site lies next to the jetty used by the pearl farm in Alyui Bay, a large bay on the west side of Waigeo known for critter hunting. Small bommies and hard corals in the shallows shelter crocodilefish, scorpionfish, stonefish and frogfish, while wobbegongs, scads, ghost pipefish and juvenile batfish gather under the jetty. Deeper, razorfish, banded pipefish, morays and mantis shrimps appear. At night the sandy slope comes alive with flamboyant cuttlefish, orangutan crabs and croaking toadfish.
