Mike's Point

Also known as: Mikes Point · Max Point

Mike's Point is named after the son of Papua Diving's founder. Biodiversity Resort reports that the islet looked like a warship from the air and was bombed during World War II, which left crevices and overhangs in the rock. Those overhangs now carry soft corals and shelter sweetlips, while schools of fish hover over the shallow reef top. Lying in the middle of the strait, it draws Spanish mackerel, reef sharks and turtles, and wobbegongs rest in the shallows.
