Silver City

Silver City lies only a few hundred metres from the Castles mooring and is a popular afternoon dive. A wall sloping at about 45 degrees runs down towards the thousand-metre drop-off of the atoll. Just before the drop-off a line of volcano-style bommies runs the length of the site. The slope holds several caves, and regular gaps in the reef let divers swim up into a shallow sandy lagoon. Grey reef, whitetip and silvertip sharks, bigeye trevally schools and Maori wrasse are seen here.
