Kachalu

Also known as: Pop Rock · Jazirat Abu Sufur

Kachalu, also called Pop Rock, is a small island straight north of the Musandam Peninsula. A coral reef slopes gently to about 15 to 18 m and then becomes a vertical wall. Sheesa Beach calls it possibly the most current-affected and dangerous site in the area, best dived at slack high tide with a guide who knows it. In return, giant trevally, eagle rays, devil rays, barracuda, jacks and snappers are common, and hammerhead and blacktip sharks are possible.
