Wahoo Point

Wahoo Point is a small point on the north side of the mainland, a few minutes by boat from Tawali Resort, swept by the nutrient-rich coastal currents. A shallow shelf with coral promontories slopes down before a vertical wall drops beyond 60 m. The shelf holds remarkably large elephant ear sponges that are a favourite wide-angle subject. Sources report hammerheads, manta and devil rays, whale sharks, tiger sharks, barracuda schools and even minke whales, humpbacks and orcas. Currents can be strong at times.
