Muscoota

The Muscoota ended her career as a coal hulk for warships in Milne Bay before she sank and came to rest in Discovery Bay near Wagawaga. She lies on her side at a slight angle to the shore, with her bow in the shallows and much of the hull side above the waterline. Sponges, soft corals and anemones cover the structure, and tasselled wobbegongs, monos, cardinalfish, wrasses and frogfish live on and around it. Seagrass meadows along the shore and a small patch reef in about 75 ft of water beside the wreck add more habitats. Liveaboards often make it the first dive of a Milne Bay trip.
