Michelle's Reef

Also known as: Michelle's

Michelle's Reef lies on the north coast in front of a black-sand beach fringed by coconut palms. To the east, logs and debris on fine dark sand hold shrimpgobies, anemonefish and other muck critters. To the west a cliff forms a rocky wall with crevices, caves and swim-throughs, decorated with sponges, sea fans and gorgonians, and photographers can shoot up into the jungle canopy from shallow water. Patch reefs and pinnacles along the slope host lionfish, groupers, cleaning stations and anthias. Pegasus fish and mimic octopus are also reported.
