Dinah's Beach
Also known as: Lawadi · Lauadi
Dinah's Beach lies just inside the bay formed by the Deacon's Reef headland, in front of Lauadi village, and is named after Dinah Halstead, whose family comes from the village. Here Bob Halstead persuaded sceptical guests to swap reef photography for black sand and debris, and the term muck diving was born. The dark volcanic sand slopes away at about 30 degrees, but the critters are mostly found in the shallows among rubble, logs and coral clusters. Divers report mimic octopus, frogfish, ghost pipefish, seahorses, cuttlefish, mantis shrimp, Coleman shrimp and many nudibranchs. Because the action is so shallow, very long dives are normal.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
