Salpatxot
Also known as: El Salpatxot / Guix
Salpatxot lies off the north face of Meda Gran, and a rock of the same name serves as the reference point of the dive. Instead of walls, caves or tunnels, the site is a gentle slope of big rock blocks set on sand, each one sheltering groupers, scorpionfish and sea bream. Between the blocks the seabed is covered by Posidonia, home to small fish, crustaceans and the endangered noble pen shell. Barracudas and eagle rays are often seen in the blue, and sunfish appear now and then, for example in June. Shelter from southerly wind and gorgonian-covered boulders make it a relaxed dive that photographers like.
