A small archipelago of seven islets off L'Estartit on the Costa Brava, protected since 1983 and one of the most studied and dived marine reserves in the western Mediterranean.
The Illes Medes are seven islets off L'Estartit, Catalonia, with a total land area of about 0.215 km2, the submerged continuation of the Montgrí massif, producing karst tunnels, caverns and walls underwater. Protected since 1983 by the Catalan government, they were incorporated in 2010 into the Parc Natural del Montgrí, les Illes Medes i el Baix Ter.
