Shaab Marsa Alam
Also known as: Gota Marsa Alam · Shab Marsa Alam
Coral gardens lie at the northern and eastern ends, and the sheltered western side has a sandy bottom dotted with coral rocks and two ergs. The larger erg has a short cave passage, and small caverns open in the middle of the reef at shallow depth. On the south side a sunken wooden safari boat, the Legend, lies at around 12 m and is overgrown with soft coral. Goatfish, snappers, groupers, moray eels and crocodilefish are common, barracuda and tuna pass in open water, and spinner dolphins sometimes shelter at the reef. Current can run through the whole site but is usually moderate.
